Understanding Indian Skin
Indian skin ranges from fair to deep brown with Fitzpatrick skin types III to VI. It is generally more prone to hyperpigmentation, oiliness and acne compared to Caucasian skin, and less prone to premature aging.
The 5-Step Routine
Step 1: Cleanser
Use a gentle, pH-balanced cleanser. For oily/acne-prone skin: Himalaya Neem Face Wash or CeraVe Foaming Cleanser. For dry/sensitive: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser.
Step 2: Toner (Optional)
Alcohol-free toner to balance pH. Niacinamide toners work well for most Indian skin types.
Step 3: Serum
Niacinamide 10% (The Ordinary) targets pores and pigmentation — key concerns for Indian skin. Vitamin C serum in the morning for brightening.
Step 4: Moisturizer
Even oily skin needs moisture. Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream for dry skin. Light gel moisturizer for oily skin types.
Step 5: Sunscreen (AM Only)
SPF 50+ is non-negotiable in India. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer is the gold standard for Indian climate — lightweight and non-greasy.
